Another great morph of the "smooth isopod" as it is also called to distinguish from the "rough" isopod, a.k.a. Porcellio scaber. Although P. scaber is sometimes called the "orange giant," Porcellio laevis definitely grows larger. These are very prolific breeders, too. This is another great species for a cleanup crew, although not recommended for small frogs or geckos, because small animals could become potential prey. For larger species, there is probably none better in a bioactive setup--we keep them with our rescue tortoises!
